Jimmy Hutson bids farewell to ASMP after 50 years

After 50 years working for Automatic Screw Machine Products (ASMP) in Decatur, you'd think that Jimmy Hutson would be ready for a rest. Not a chance! When asked what he plans on doing the day after his retirement on July 6, 2006, Jimmy replied, "I'm going to hit the road!"

Jimmy has worked in the ASMP warehouse doing everything from packaging to threading parts, so he's now ready to take some time for himself. "This has been a most wonderful place to work," Jimmy says. "I've really enjoyed my time with Automatic. When I first started with the company there were 17 people, and now there are 115. So we've come a long way." In his retirement speech, Jimmy told co-workers “it has been a great experience…and I love and appreciate each and every one of you.”

Jimmy's first post-retirement priority is to visit family and friends, and he then plans to travel to Texas, the Hoover Dam, and the Redwood Forest. "I'm ready to see America," he adds.
